Positive experiences French Schools near Basel?

Mmmhhhh. Not strictly true - it was destined to attract people (principally for taxation revenue purposes) from neighbouring cantons by giving them assurance that their children's linguistic skills would only be increased by a bilingual education, not restricted to French. The district of Delémont is a rich bilingual area and we frequently encounter Swiss German Jurassiens in our social circle, indeed it is far more rich linguistically than our Baselbieter village ever was. But if you are meaning would this area ever be officially German speaking, then no, clearly not. Here, you live in Suisse Romande. End of story.

Our first language German son has maintained his German with ease since arriving. I am perfectly satisfied that come lycée and beyond, he will have the choice of German and French speaking further education - oh and English too.

The commute is easy. 35 minutes, 2 trains an hour. Have a look on the sbb website. Taxes are much more expensive than neighbouring Baselland but property is much cheaper, so it probably evens out in the end. It is much smaller and more rural.

My point exactly. It's Delémont, not Biel/Bienne. We agree.
