When I was single, I enjoyed a good unhealthy take-away.

I think I had one delivery in the last 5 years.

I guess the problem is that when you have kids the variability in delivery time (leaving aside the dubious health/nutritional value) means that if you are organised enough to order things in advance, it’s probably quicker and easier to cook something from scratch.

Errr, their website says Laax. Last time I visited that was in Graubunden.
(Edit: I guess @yellowblood spotted the error, post now deleted).

Yes I know they do delivery, but it’s not cheap, and their nearest retail outfit to us is around 45 minutes away just North of Vevey.

Phil…not even pizza?
Or what about doing your shopping online from Coop, Migros etc? I am a bit of a butterfly and sometimes I enjoy my time in stores a bit too much… lol
So for me it makes sense to order online a lot of things that are bulky and don’t feel like lifting etc. Is that too environmentally unfriendly btw? I don’t think so.

Delivery is free above a certain amount, or it was. They ship it via Swiss Post expedited in a styrofoam box, so you get it the next day. In my experience the pies have always arrived still well frozen. Once you empty the box you ship it back to them with the already paid postage chit. It couldn’t be easier.

You do need a freezer though.

Oh, my only relation with legands pies is as a happy customer.

P.S. Their (not-frozen) hot-cross buns are great too.

Last time was 5 years ago

I like to see what I buy. Don’t like having things missing from the order (at the supermarket, you could make alternative plans). Don’t like waiting around for delivery.

Doesn’t seem so. chf24 per delivery

Fair enough. And apropos of pizza delivery, don’t imagine we continuously order pizza though, we do that just (very) occasionally. I personally don’t see much harm in that, not even for the kids. After all it’s just a piece of flat bread with some extras on top. Much better than anything you can buy from a store (I mean the frozen ones). I wish I could make a healthier and tastier version of that myself, though…

Pretty easy to make a pizza at home if you use the store bought dough. Just roll it out and add toppings and put it in the oven.

The kids love to help make it too.

Those pies are frozen, meaning you can buy more and this way the marginal costs with transportation become negligible. That is - only if you really like their stuff.

I have the feeling that much too frequently many people here argue some points from the “either or” side. If you like to have some deliveries or takeaways sometimes, that is not like saying you don’t cook or never go shopping. Some of us simply like a bit of variation (or as ShirleyNot pointed out now they don’t have the time or the energy left to cook everything from scratch), which comes at a price, I agree, but in the end we all have to think of what makes sense to us at certain moments. Some make a point in eating out a few months per month and that’s OK too, but frankly I don’t believe is that different from ordering some pies. Or whatever.

Having the option of an easy option is nice, I have to say. Sometimes with the best will in the world, scheduling and time management go off at a tangent and I arrived knackered at home at 7pm having to cook a meal because I’d planned xyz for Tuesday night.

How do other people manage working 100% with a family and making time to cook? I do batch cook a couple of times a month but weekend time is precious and feel that it gets swallowed up with chores.

My OH also gets the dinner on if he’s home first and the offspring is big enough to start veg prep or similar but we constantly seem to be disorganised. :frowning:

The bread part is the most important actually…

I like cooking everything from scratch but lately I have been trying to increase my protein intake and find that hard in the meals we have with the family so having the option for a period to have healthy ready made meals may appeal to me.

I like the food ordering option also but we only do it for big occasions as too expensive otherwise!

Dough in the store - make sure you poke it with a fork
Passata - Coop sells the Cirio One for pizza. Otherwise buy the cheaper bland one and add some olive oil, salt and Italian herbs and let sit for a few hours.
Mozzarella - can buy the block one or the grated one.

That’s it! Then just add whatever toppings! It’s really good

I already cooked for today, but tomorrow is a “fluff” day. Do you have a particular brand of pizza dough to recommend? Last time I tried one wasn’t particularly good and would like to give it one more chance.

This one - personally I prefer the rectangle one that fits in the oven pan but they also have the round one.

There is also a prix garantie one which I am sure is pretty good!
