Looks like a paniculata to me…I’ve been growing them for 30 years, but oh well.
I would wait until late winter then cut it back.
It doesn’t look like a typical paniculata to me based on the flower shape but I’m pretty sure it’s a variety which flowers on new wood so late winter early spring would be the best time to do it.
