I come home to find someone using my private parking space. What can I do? I can't park my car there. Can I call a tow truck?
Is it a place you paid for to park? Does it have your licence plate number displayed on it somewhere? Apartment block? If so complain to the agency that run it if it’s another tenant.
Yes, I paid for it - private parking space. It's in the garage underneath my building. The car is not even from my Kanton.

At our apartment in the UK, we have a dedicated parking space which we paid for. My daughter went to spend the week-end there with family- and got a note on her windscreen to move- by the person who has got into a habit of using our space, for free (as we don't live there) ! The cheek!
Park behind it/block it. Leave a note with your number.
I had this before. When I did get the call I took my time to finish my dinner. I even thought it was a good idea to open that fine bottle of red Tuscan wine that I was saving and drink it with my girlfriend. After about 1.5 hour I showed up to move my car.

Being content when I showed up after 1.5 hours, yes. Being drunk with 2 glasses of wine consumed within the time span of an hour, no.
In China, it's fairly common to see "No Parking - Tires will be deflated" signs over private parking spaces...
I totally love this attitude. My ex-hubby used to do the same. Without leaving the number. 😁 If it's a Swiss plate, one can find the contact details, one just has to know where to look for such 🤓
There is maddeningly enough not much you can do as if you call a tow truck you will be responsible.
Your best bet is to go via the people you rent from and tell them the goods you are renting are not available for usage.
That will however take time and in the meantime you are stuck so it's annoying. People are jerks. Parking behind them and blocking them, if possible, is excellent. Tracking them down and calling them if possible also. All in all a very annoying experience.
Clamp them.
Or let the air out of their tires.
Or remove their tires and throw the lug nuts away.
Or carry a floor jack, and move their car.

While I would be tempted to do both of the things ( park behind and let air out of the tires) ,do know that people have gotten in legal trouble for doing so :

OP mentioned underground garage under the building, that is not the street. Parking behind is just parking in a bad place, so the person feeling blocked should complain to the property owner.
If blocking someone causes problems, I'd take the hit knowing that I will share all the info with the real estate company managing the building.
Indeed, it is only illegal to block them on the street, NOT in a private garage!

That's still coercion. The problem isn't where or when but what.
As for the reaction time, the federal court has found that, in a case where the blocker unblocked the other car 18 minutes after having been phoned, was a borderline case and just within what's acceptable.
Being a bit more productive, did the garage in your building has the following:
1) A sign telling it's a private parking "only paying users" or something like that?
2) Does the garage have a door that requires a key or remote control to open?
If so, I think it's reasonable to send a complaint letter to the building management. The safety of the building has been compromised. Why have locks on doors if anyone can enter?
PS. now, an anecdote. I park in a 100+ underground garage. I signed a contract for the parking starting the 1st day of the month but I picked up my car on a 25th. I asked building management if I could use the place about a week in advance, they said "no prob, more than half the parking is still free". I went down to check and there was a car there. I returned to my flat and wrote in a piece of paper that I taped to the wall "parkingplatz #** reserviert" and since that day no one else has parked there. I guess people take for granted that if they don't see a sign, it's OK to park, even if they know they are not paying for that parking place. Important part here is the paper is taped to the wall, not to *******'s car

I had a paid for parking place in the underground car park. One day, I realised that for the first 3 months, I was in the wrong space (I had 2-112, and was parking in 1-112 or something like that)
Private property is private property. If indoors or outdoors is the same.
You can recover the towing costs from the person which unlawfully used your parking place. Some towing companies will take over your claim against the other person and you do not have to pay anything.
important: if you are in the unfortunate situation that your car got towed. The towing company must release your car without any upfront charges. The towing costs can be settled later. Demanding an upfront payment is also seen as coercion. Furthermore, the towing cost cannot exceed a certain amount.

This is mostly a pure civil law mater. The police wont help you on private ground.

Blocking has the drawback that you might not get easily contacted. On the other hand you surely do not park in other peoples private parking spot
