It’s not just me. Many cyclists experience the same.
Rather than question the cyclist in your one-sidedness, how about you be a bit more constructive and question some of the BMW drivers here on their driving attitude?
(We’ve already had Komosomolez, a Black BMW driver, state in another thread that there shouldn’t be speed limits and people should drive abouve their ability to “practice” getting better.

I cycle defensively. Not accidents - near misses. The reason why many people would like to cycle but are fearful to do so.

Come on, read the full quote: “A new study by Scrap Car Comparison has revealed that BMW drivers are most likely to be psychopaths, in addition to those that drive electric cars or have personalised number plates.”

Seems pretty clear to me:

The research tasked 2 000 drivers of varying car makes and model to complete the ‘Psychopath Test’- a twelve-question survey that is able to define where a person falls on the psychopathy scale, and therefore how likely they are to exhibit abnormal, anti-social behaviour. Ranked on a scale of zero (no psychopathy) to 36 (psychopathy likely) the average score across all participants was 6,6.

Scoring almost double the national average, BMW drivers ranked the highest on the psychopathy scale, with an average score of 12,1 out of 36

There’s a correlation between BMW owners and personalised plates.

As for EVs, who knows. Maybe certain types of people like shiny new things…

Oh no, I’ve been found out - intentionally. sigh.

I’m not one-sided, I cycle myself.
I can’t say I’ve noticed the BMW drivers being any worse than any other drivers personally.

I just think you need to maybe lighten up a bit. You are more than an tad obsessive about this topic in my opinion.

I live in the "Swiss-German part of Switzerland.
People are very different from the French side (or so I keep getting told).

If you don’t like a topic, you can always post and read another one. As long as I am not breaking forum rules then I guess we’ll leave it at that.

So it is not about the car but about Swiss Germans then? Or Germans? This is all very confusing.

Maybe there are more BMWs on the German side of Switzerland? I don’t know. I don’t have data on that but there certainly seem to be a lot.

They drive smaller cars on the French side (the biggest cars, by length, are sold in Zug), so it’s conceivable that there is a brand differential too.

That’s a revealing twist after you linked stuff from all over the world.

A questionnaire (from the UK, mind) that produces a psychological diagnose on 12 questions only may make for a cool article but is otherwise worth less than trash, your reaction shows why. Once you get the idea that red cars are the problem, all you perceive are red problem cars while the rest gets ignored.

The insurance companies will have hard data on the issue, correct risk assessment is at the core of their business (alternatively the ASTRA or the federal statistics bureau). If you’re really interested, rather than look for bias confirmation, an enquiry should be well worth your time.

I must be a complete psycho, cause I’ve owned 8 BMWs from 1981 on…one 320i, two 633CSi, two 635CSi, one 628 CSi, one 550 and now a 650 with CH plates. I’ve never even come close to a cyclist. But then I don’t generally run fast enough to rearrange vital organs…

I guess BMW drivers have always had a reputation/stereotype in many countries. Whether that reputation is well-deserved is perhaps a subjective/debatable matter.

It used to be Volvo drivers when I lived in the UK. At least in motorcycling (Edit: and cycling) circles the brand name was synonymous with empty-headed self-entitled pricks. Not quite psychopaths, just blithely unaware of everything and anything else on the road apart from themselves.

For Germany, the cars in the most accidents with insurance claims:

If you take a look at the ten most frequently used car brands in Germany, it quickly becomes clear: Mercedes (5.4 claims per year per 100 insured persons) and BMW (5.2 claims) are the most damaging vehicles

But that’s not really helpful as most Germans favour German brands. Probably the same in the German part of Switzerland.

The Federal Government does not appear to include car marques in its published statistics.

For Belgianmum:

In 2022, there were 391 road accidents with people hurt in Neuchatel.
There were 3667 for 2022 in Zurich.
That’s probably why you don’t have much experience of accidents/near accidents where you live with any vehicle.

There’s an expression - “There’s no smoke without fire” that may apply here.
When I way younger, I heard the Volvo anecdotes too.
BMWs were not too common then in the UK. My grandmother had one. She drove well over the speed limit in a very entitled fashion. She told me once that she refused to drive at the speed limit and always drove much faster.

The Police took her licence away in the end to protect other road users.

Didn´t you live somewhere in the middle of the country? No need to be that condescending, also as BM has lived in a couple of other countries so no idea what her experience is.
