I started a new job last August across two sites in Winterthur and Zurich. It’s been announced that the site in Zurich will be closed next August meaning that I will be on about 50% of my current wages.
I was told by a friend that RAV have a top up scheme for this eventuality and I was wondering how I would go about applying for it.
I may still get another part time job but I would like to have some backup if I don’t find a new job in the meantime.

Unemployment benefits are generally payable not only in the event of a complete loss of employment, but also in the event of a permanent reduction in the number of hours worked. However, the reduction in working hours must reach a certain minimum of at least one full working day per week. In addition, the loss of work must result in a loss of wages of more than 30 percent (for an entitlement to a daily allowance of 80 percent, the loss must be more than 20 percent)."

As a next step, you might wish to consider registering at your local RAV office due to your partial unemployment.
