RAV after quiting a job

Hi all.

Is it true that if you work in Switzerland for multiple years and quit your job you still get some unemployment money from RAV? How does that work? Is it same amount as if you are fired?

I am thinking of moving to another kanton at similar time as the time I would quit my job - does this have any effect on RAV's payments? Already now I work in one kanton and live in a different one.

Swiss authorities are becoming very wise and weary to the number of people who quite a) without discussing issues with HR or management to try and find solutions and b) without making any attempts to secure a new job first.

And to my mind, quite rightly so. This system/insurance, is for those who lose their job through no fault of their own, not for those who quit, especially without a) and b) above.

Burnout is now the cover up story for all " I needed to quit now" .. almost every second inquiry from RAV starts with whenever that was known to former employer at the time ( in attempt to push the issue to health-insurance of the company )

It all depends on the permit type. Multiple years working is irrelevant for an L or B permit tied to one specific employer.

What do you mean with this? I am working for same employer for 7 years and have B permit.

Well, I did a) already. And will (already am) trying with b). But I wanna see ahead what happens if things don't go my way.

If you are addressing a)- make sure you document it properly, dates, who present, what issues you raised, what solutions were, or not proposed, etc.
