RC Drones (DJI etc..)

DJI also have software simulators that use the same remote, so you can practice first in a virtual world.

Having had it for a month now, I can confirm that the Neo is pretty much indestructible. The props are covered so if you hit a tree, branch, wall etc… it just bounces back. And because its so light (130g) it doesn’t really get damaged when it crashes, just a few scratches and you’re flying again. With regards to parts, I’ve seen aftermarket props, bumpers, batteries etc… on Ebay so basic repairs should be possible.

When you first activate the drone you have the option of buying a DJI Premium care plan for something like €22. This give you two replacement drones, including a replacement for fly-away, so pretty cheap peace of mind. And they don’t repair, they replace so turn arounds are nice and quick.

They’ve just announced/released a firmware update for the Neo.

Now it can go at 30Km/h (I think it was 15Km/h before) in follow-me mode which means cyclists and others using speedier forms of transport than merely walking can make use of it.

It was quite a bumper update, it also included portrait mode for shooting videos intended for smarphone use. And the sound quality is much better (it uses your smartphone mic and eliminates the buzz of the drone).
