The cheapest price on Toppreise.ch for that TV is 720chf. The price for the 40" version of that TV at Media Markt is 799chf, 100chf more. The cheapest 46" TV at Media Markt is 50chf more, at 749chf. Check the website yourself, where the prices are usually also cheaper than in-store. http://shop.mediamarkt.ch/de/search/...MjA1NzgzNzw8MA
That makes it a very good price for a brick and mortar store.
I am noticing a trend from you, making statements that aren't backed up by facts. Please, don't keep doing that as it doesn't do anyone any favours.
My main beef is that TV does not normally sell for 1099, it's not really reduced by 400 chf as your links confirm.
He's read most of your comments here (except the ones from today) and appreciates the suggestions. He hauled the old, heavy CRT down to the car, and anticipates coming home with a shiny new one.
One should never look at the reduction, but purely at the final selling price.
In the linked instance, it appears to offer good vfm, and is probably worth considering for that alone.
My wife just bought a Micro brand trotti from Ochsner Sport and pleased that it was marked down from 159 to 99.
When I looked online Athleticum and even on Micro's own site had it for 99.
At least she wasn't ripped off - but no bargain.
if you have a UK VPN with a Samsung tv it is fairly simple to change the tv's Samsung Apps Store location to the UK and you then have access to a large number of catchup sevices such as iplayer, itv player, 4OD, 5 On Demand as well as Love Film and Netflix.
Have fun

We bought a toaster for 29 chf in Neuchatel and the exact same one was 69 chf in Biel. My iron was about 50 chf cheaper in Biel though.
I understand from a friend who is in the electronics business (MM is a customer) that each of the MediaMarkt stores is quite independently operated. Each manager has a very large latitude on the products they carry as well as the pricing. Hence some of the differences you see.
According to OH, people were "walking out of the store with these TVs like French people walk out with baguettes from bakeries." In other words, it's a hot seller. The store was very busy, but he did not have to wait long for assistance and the gal was friendly and helpful. They took the old CRT without a problem, and didn't even give him a funny look.
Back to the deal. If you look on toppreise, only two vendors are listed as selling this TV. Both have a higher price and don't include a tablet. Therefore we think we got a reasonable deal. So far we're very pleased with the TV. It was easy to set up and has more features than our old one. Of course most of those features we never "needed" before, but I think this will be like smartphones - once you try it, you "need" it from there on out. We were a bit concerned about brightness, because we'd relied heavily on the ambilight on our Phillips model, but so far this TV is pleasantly bright and crisp.
I am seriously considering looking into a VPN or IP mask now, as that would be great to watch more shows in English from either U.S. or UK or both. I'll first search the threads here before starting a new one, though.
One early complaint - the TV stand does not rotate like our old one. That's a pain because we liked to turn the TV when we were in the dining area.
So that's it for the moment. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Don't leave me in suspense.
EDIT: don't worry - the clue is in the web address, even if no details appear on the page.

EDIT (again): the stand looks like the one on my 40 incher ...... which swivels about 30 degs. in both directions.
True LED TVs (where color LEDs make up the pixel array) are used mainly in very large public displays, such as those at football stadiums.
In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that advertising LED-lit LCD TVs as "LCD TVs" is misleading.

Couple of surpises; it came with a free huge safety glass topped floor cupboard & I later found that Philips TV are known to be complicated to install (after asking the price for a profi installation) because there are so many programmable options; anyway after only 2 or 3 hours installation work by me it functions fine.
It does have wifi but this only enables photos & such like on any PC in my home-net to be displayed on screen; no direct internet connection.
Picture quality is great, but price is still too high. Wait a few years and maybe they'll be affordable then.
- 3D seems pretty useless. We took some 3D pics and vid with our camera and they don't look dramatically different on the telly. We look dramatically dorky wearing the glasses, tho. And the flickering of the glasses is totally annoying.
- We've yet to figure this one out...We set the default language to English. But when on a channel that broadcasts in both English and German, if you change the channel and come back it defaults to German again. Have to go through the menu to fix it.
- Need to buy an optical cable so we can hook up the DVR and sound systems to the TV. Right now not compatible as they are apparently dinosaurs from a technology standpoint (3 yrs old).
- Setup and installation was a breeze. Our "old" TV was still searching channels in the bedroom while the new one was up and running.
Regarding the language the setting will only work from the. TV if using a Digicard or direct cable input.
If you use a Mediabox, then the setting has to be made there.
If using a Digicard then from the TV menu select System > Language > Preference.
