Recommendations: Installing Rain Shower/Regendusche

any views and recommendations on where to buy, brands and installation for a rain shower?

many TIA

Grohe - from Amazon.de. About 700 eur.

Obi in Waldshut-Tiengen have a good display.

Your milage may vary but we’ve given up using ours. The Mrs likes to squeegee the glass, but the rain shower head wouldn’t empty immediately, sometimes many minutes later, soaking the domestic slave.

If you have hard water it’s very difficult to keep the holes free flowing and it’s difficult to clean.

Make sure the head is vertically straight. This will prevent the left over water from running out.

Unscrew the shower head and soak overnight in a higher strength household vinegar. This will dissolve the build up of mineral deposits. Do this every 6 - 9 months if in a hard water area.

The vinegar is also good for cleaning the shower glass, so a double benefit!!!

We have coated our shower glass with one of those nano products for car windscreens that make the rain runoff, make it much easier to clean after a shower.

Not according to this domestic slave. There is no perfect position

Make sure you get one that is easy to unscrew and dismantle. Our’s is not.

Get a quality one not a Chinese one that will fail after burying behind tiles.

My parents have one - they have very hard water and it's now so clogged up that it's unusable - there's only cold water dripping from it at this point.

Also, vinegar kills the silicone. Citric acid is apparently better.

When we lived in Alsace, the water was the hardest I've ever seen. We used ANTIKAL on everything once a week. Soak the shower head and faucet sieves in it, and all will be well.

Your post is very vague. Do you mean installing from scratch, with plumbing and tray, surround, etc, required. Or installing over a bath, where plumbing already there, etc? Electric or on mains hot water, etc.

Hansgrohe is great too

But they are all made in China

Thanks to the EF Hive mind. We took in all your comments and suggestions (thanks esp. re: cleaning) and are going with Hansgrohe.

Pop into a Sanitas, Getaz Romang, Challande or equivalent in your area where many have these shower heads on display and functioning

This proved to be a clincher for us on Hansgrohe, on top of all the positive reviews online
