this site is run by the British Council and the BBC, and is really professional, lot's of excellent stuff.
this site is pretty good, but some of the content is restricted, key symbol, need to be a member. the best thing on it the guardian weekly articles, which are great for conversation classes, ask the ss to read them for homework, then do topic based speaking stuff in the following class.
unfortunatley the www.eltforum.com isn't really a forum, and has been 'under reconstruction' for the past 6 months or so, no cluse when it will re-open. really it's for professional development when it's up and running, really good, but not what you are looking for.
there is a lot of crap out there, the te site and onestop are only ones i check regularly, a part from that your best bet is thinking what you need, the specific resource (an animal crossword/set of flashcards) , and searching for it using google.
I have my first lesson on Monday night I am very excited.
I hope you are having a nice weekend.
This is my favorite site for all things having to do with teaching English.
( Link ) The section, "Stuff for Teachers" has lots of useful ideas.
Thanks so much guys!
Thanks for posting these websites. I am wondering if any English language teachers can recommend a particular text book that they use to teach English. I am currently teaching children and adults, which are your favorite text books?
Here's a couple of ideas:
1. Send Homework by Email
Use this site to reinforce some grammar or vocab point you've done:
Send the students the relevant link. They can do it whenever before the next lesson. Then print out the hardcopy (using the Quiz 22k link on the right) and test them on it. Easy!
2. Explore this site
The previous quiz page was taken from this site. It's pretty awesome and self-explanatory.
3. Breaking News
Ready-made lessons based on current news.
You need to pick and choose the good bits, but it's very handy when you're in a hurry, and there's bound to be good stuff your studes will be interested in.
4. FCE and CAE
Flo-Joe .
Useful even if you're not preparing them for exams. The 'Spotlight Paper 3' stuff is ace. Again, you can email sections to students and then print a hardcopy to test them in class.
