Redundancy / relocation advice

Good to hear that!!

Can you share what area of work you do? Maybe some of us know of companies that could use your expertise?

Nothing really to add except to say commiserations on the job loss and that horrible feeling of being cut adrift. Been there, done that.

I’ve heard that the job market is pretty good for those looking for work at the moment. Heard equally that lots of companies are having trouble filling vacancies so hopefully you are in a job-seekers market!

From my experience, the path of least resistance is to give into the RAV and their demands for documentation, job search, course attendance, etc. It’s also been my overwhelming experience that it is in their interests to get you into work again so in their rather brusque and officious manner, they are really trying to help you.

Best of luck.

I was a bit reluctant to share earlier for confidentiality reasons, but I guess now it’s okay.

I’m a risk manager, with primary experience in project management (as opposed to quantitative / credit risk such as those working in finance). I have some experience in technology risk (information security / cyber threats) in the investment banking world, but I wouldn’t rate myself against others who’ve dedicated their career to this field. I’ve also been professionally lecturing and facilitating project management processes (risk workshops / training & development / technical authority forums etc.) for over a decade, and this is something I particularly enjoy, so that’s a possible direction too. My undergrad degree is psychology and my masters is in international relations, so it’s quite a broad spread (in terms of applicability) of academic knowledge too.

Any ideas for where to look are very welcome!

Be careful. I’m not sure how being unemployed atm would affect any family reunification process. Check with your commune/gemeinde/cantonal migration office to make sure you’d still be able to apply for it.

You must not depend on social assistance. If you are self-employed or unemployed, you must also provide proof of sufficient financial resources to support your family members.

But as MF said, well worth checking this in advance, even though the above website only refers to social assistance which unemployment funds is not.

Thanks folks - agreed on the reunification worries. It’s why we’re trying to get him across here ASAP whilst I’m still employed. I haven’t been given an official leaving date yet so as far as I’m concerned, I’m still a fully employed and contributing member of society.

RAV is not social assistance though. RAV doesn’t go against you for citizenship, not sure about family reunification.

it can go against citizenship if you are on/off for extended periods of time, in canton schwyz they request proof of RAV from the past 5 years.
