Refill of prescribed drugs

Hi there!

Soon I need to go for a refill of some prescribed drugs -- I wonder if I need to go strictly to the pharmacy where I originally gave my prescription or I can go to any of them (perhaps it's stored in some global database being assigned to my health insurance card?).

You can go to any if you have a copy of the prescription. Sometimes the first pharmacy takes it, but I always ask them to give me a copy.

(If the pharmacy has saved it and not given you a copy, other pharmacies will not be able to access it, you need to get yourself a copy from original pharmacy or Dr).

I always scan a copy first.

It’s easiest to return to the same pharmacy who should have your details in their files (un fiche) and will bill your insurance directly.

I know that Sunstore in Signy can’t access my fiche which is at Sunstore La Combe.

The sun store pharmacies have a system by which if you sign their form you give all Sunstore pharmacies access to your details and prescriptions. It’s quite handy.

Has anyone taken a prescription to Germany to be filled - can I simply walk into an apothek in DE with a CH prescription?

My thyroid malfunction requires 2 diff meds to keep me ticking, one of which has not been through all the paperwork steps for the Swiss insurance to cover the bill.

A box of 100 tablets is 50sfr, vs €20...the difference of ~200sfr vs ~€80/year for a medication taken for the remainder of a lifetime with hopefully a few decades to go is significant.

I’m not certain that I would want that. Maybe for the future.

I've taken prescriptions to Pharmacies in France and they have filled most things, but not at the same prices that someone in the French System would see on their statements. Apparently there are two prices, one for reimbursement and another for those without Prescriptions written in France.

Of course Germany maybe different.

Data sharing between same company is very common, think of Migros or Coop store cards.....

Yes, I did that for a long time for a drug that was "too expensive" for Swiss Krankenkasse.

Now there is a cheaper generic version so it gets paid.

If you do not want to visit Germany there are Dutch Govt. approved online pharmacies that are safe to use. Just look for the logo you see below, you can also double-check on an NL Gov. website by clicking on the logo.
