The Swiss German men are more or less impotent which is why the Swiss german women look for French or Italian partners.
But the officers are often Swiss-German in any case. It seems the French/Italian citizens don’t take it so seriously and don’t volunteer to become officers... back in the 50s my father in law spent most of his service as an officer in the French speaking part. As he explained it to me, he didn’t understand stand the consequences of admitting that he spoke very good French at the end of an NCO course. Shorty after the course he was suddenly offered a place on the next officers course, out of turn, it was only when he started the course and noticed that he was being referred to as a ‘French’ officer that he realized his mistake!
That's simply because the pound and USD are worthless paper these days.
