registering at Gemeinde for 2 months stay

Hi All,

I now have a Swiss passport but life challenges continue.

To come back and work in Switzerland as a Mountain Guide I need professional liability insurance. I can't get cover for Switzerland from New Zealand where I usually work (I have insurance in NZ).

From my research I don't need to register if I stay less than three months, I can work etc however

I have to register at the Gemeinde to get any valid insurance eg car or liability etc...

We contacted a few insurance companies but when we mentioned two months they were not keen on such a short period of cover.

Has anyone done this? and/or for such a short time? Any tips?

Do not mention the short period?

I think if you work you must register, and as a Swiss I think you cannot use the notification procedure.

Se also the DBG which says that you have Swiss tax residency when you are here for at least 30 days and are working. https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1..._1184/de#art_3

Getting conflicted replys from the local Gemeinde.

Some say you can't register for less than three months but I thought we have "right to abode" or something similar as citizens

Pretty upsetting as we thought once I was Swiss things would be simpler

Understand the paying tax bit that's pretty normal anywhere

It is simple. You register when you arrive, no drama. Pay health insurance etc. Deregister when you leave.

(My husband worked in Switzerland for around 3 months once when we were living in the UK, and he registered/de-registered with no problems).
