Religious Musings

Hinduisim has more evolved thoughts in this department. Instead of using nameless faceless 40 virgins, they have a set of top class whores employed in the heavans, who have exclusive training in the various aspects of love-making, They have class (they have done it with none less than the King of Gods himself), they have wide experiece, and they come with the added advatage that they never grow old. What a combination

That is why I became a devout Hindu

What gets to me even more is women who actually 100% subscribe to the claptrap and then further promote that built in sexism as sign of godly greatness Brain washed goodness!

Btw 2-3 days ago when it was boiling hot in the afternoon I saw an idiot who had his wife covered head to toe in layers of black outfit with just the face showing. He himself was wearing white baggy T-shirt. I really felt like wrapping him up tightly using black bandage Sexist inconsiderate pig! Oh! and she was the one doing all the pushing of the pram and stuff in the heat

But I admit this is a sexist set-up too. There is no equivalent service for women who make it to the heavans

Interested male job-seekers please note!

According to my husband who is a Muslim and a believer, he is always amazed to hear that kind of fairytale and say this is rubbish!

But he keeps hearing that kind of fairytale, right? That is the point

Aren't all religions fairytale and rubbish anyway? Or is it just the parts that religious people don't like that are fairytale? As with all religions the bottom line is that no god ever told anyone anything. People have just made up and re-interpreted things through out history. Religion is just bunch of lies piled on top of other lies.

Btw is it 40 or 72 virgins? Niranjan you trying to keep 32 horis for yourself as the middleman? Shame in you

Religions evolved as a way for man to comprehend what he saw around him.

Think about when you're off in a place and can see the stars without any ambient lighting from the cities. They seem close enough to touch. Thunderstorms, eclipses, earthquakes, mudslides, tornadoes, etc. all must have seemed to come from someone or something pulling the strings.

And if asked I am sure you would consider yourself a very open minded and non-prejudicial person ;-)

Sorry, I didn't get the connection of this post to the topic

I've worked in a couple of predominately muslim countries on contracts, by and large, I didn't notice ramadam so much in so much as I was respected as someone who wasn't muslim, and wasn't expected to fast.

However, one of my colleagues had a shock in the Gambia when their driver fell asleep at the wheel (during fasting) and drove off the road. Luckily no one was hurt, but does that sort of thing happen often during ramadam?

The Gambia is terribly poor, so night time feasting was not as extravagant as other places.

Usually Priests, Mullahs, of each religion, would give you a list of Do's and Dont's and tell you if you follow this You will go to Heaven and if not then will burn in Hell.

But from what I've read and understood, Heaven and Hell is a "Consequence" of an individuals actions, if you believe in Universal Justice and that good actions will bear good fruits and ill deeds would lead to misery... this will be the case. Honest people sleep better, as they usually say (though evil seem to enjoy the waking hours more )

Speaking with Islamic perspective, even Heaven will have different Levels (Higher adn Lower) and Sections... for example a Painter's heaven would not be the same as a Musician's.

I would love to engage in any conversation, even Religion, Got too much mental energy and time to kill...

Too approach the idea of God... you will have 2 options:

1) There was Nothing, there is Nothing and there will be Nothing.

2) There was God and then He Created the Universe and everything etc..

Humans are the last creation of God, after Angels and Jinns which do not have Freewill or Intelligence.

Humans are the Only Creation who posessed both Freewill and Intelligence and God's motivation for Humans was too Create somethng in his own Image and the Purpose of this life is to Define it.

I quite often here this 40 or even 72 Virgin thing...

Can anyone prove where it says in Islam that?

1) the "number" 40 or 72?

2) the "state" i.e. being virgin

3) the sex i.e. females

Religions are NOT fairytales, people ascribe fairtytales to Religions and then accuse it of being a fairytale!!!

It unimportant whether something is explicitly written in the scriptures, or mreley passed down by word of mouth. Fact is there are some people who belive this, and that matters.

As an aside, I was wondering what a waste of resource it would be if an ex-terrorist gets 40 virgin girls and he turns out to be gay.

Will people get "straightened" once they reach heavan, or is heavan becoming more liberal in this matter nowadays?

My observation from being in Bahrain, Egypt and Morocco during Ramadan.

- People are calmer, more reflective and less stressed (inc Cairo cabbies)

- The giving of charity soars, with many people taking food to the mosques for distribution to the poor

- The evenings (after fasting ends) is a colourful, light-filled festival of food and drink

- Women are far less likely to receive unwelcome male attention during this month

- Expats also work fewer hours

People like to say that all religions worship the same God, but under different names. But when investigating the actions and attitudes of the God described in the scripture of the religions, they portray very different personalities. I understand, with PC and all, and man's desire for peace among religions. But Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims, Jews and Christians each paint a different personhood of God.

Get your facts right. Dont believe everything mullahs in your country tell you.. I honestly believe Islam is hijacked by these Mullahs and they add new things in the religion all the time. Trust me it doesnt say anywhere in Quran that faithfuls a allotted 40 virgins apiece...

Don't you know gays go to hell? I think it's the position in the 3 big monotheist religions, no?

The Gay Christian Network

Okay, so I will believe you and the Quoran. So I will believe there is hell and heavan, and I will end up in hell for all the hersies I committed while on Earth

Geez, to me they are all basically comic fairy tales, all three major religions, even after you take away the further embellishments added by their mullas and acharyas.
