I know there have been a few questions on this topic so it might clear things up.
I came across this short article this morning by PwC. It gives an update on the Federal authorities view on remote working for EU/EFTA nationals (and third country nationals).
A good summary although I still think the position of an EU national needs to be fleshed out more. While getting an initial B permit for five years might be possible, proving that you have established economic viability in Switzerland in order to get a C permit would be difficult.
You’d think they’d be pleased - people living here and spending money, paying taxes, whilst not taking “Swiss jobs”!
That is likely, but they are not making new rules, they are interpreting existing Swiss law. Change in Switzerland is often slow, very slow.
The purpose of FMOP and Switzerland's participation in it, is to facility the labour market as part of the single market and that is all.
I expect the SVP will tell you all the reasons why you should not be here in such a situation - housing availability and pricing etc...
