I also have no idea of what to expect in terms of costs. It'll be from a ground floor apartment to another ground floor apartment, with plenty of parking available at both ends. I guess the key cost (aside from the labour itself) will be the travel time between locations. So, any advice on this front is also welcome.

1) Avoid the companies that want you to pay the complete balance cash on the doorstep when they unload the goods. They are generally the cheapest companies, but you will have no bargaining chip if they have damaged something(s). (We didn't go that route and it was just as well...)
2) Ask for a cap on the travel times of the crew. You will have to pay for this. But you don't want to be saddled with excessive costs because the crew got stuck in a traffic jam at the Gotthard Tunnel. So, ask the company to set a cap on the maximum they will charge you. (We were glad that we did).
And I am NOT going to recommend the removal company we used. They were awful (even though we had used them twice before without any problem).
