rental application fee

Hi there

I have seen many papers that when we visit a flat and would like to apply for it, then, we have to fill out the paper ( Anmeldeformular für Mietinteressenten), and most of the paper in the end will say something like "if the we get agreed on the flat renting, and then, me - the potential tenant cancel that, then I have to pay xx CHF as processing fee".

I am a bit confused on this "processing fee".. Does it mean that once we submit the formular, we can not apply for other flats until they give us a clear "no" answer? otherwise, it will be charged with this processing fee?

I mean, I applied two at the same time, and both of them called me and saying interested on me, then, if I choose one of them, does it mean the other will always has the right reason to charge me for this "processing fee"? (since they spent time reading my application form?)

Thanks.

or such processing fee only applies only if in case of:

- they call me

- i say "yes"

- they make contract in paper, then send it to me.

- then i would like to cancel, and say a "no" again. (only this case will charge such penalty fee?)

No such a fee is not valid.

thanks.. if i understood it correctly from the German text, this means, i can still submit multiple apartments in parallel, and even two of them call me, say a "yes", i can still say a "no" to one of them, right?

Absolutley

That's great. thanks a lot for the fast reply.

You know... in Switzerland, I do everything in a very very careful way.. i know that otherwise any bill can come to the house as a surprise.
