Hi all,
I will come to Switzerland as a tourist and would like to rent a car for a day. I hold a driver's license from a non-EU country, Turkey, and I know that foreign driver's licenses are valid in CH for people who come for a short term.
However, I wonder if I am treated as a tourist since I live in another country in the Schengen area, Germany, for the past few years. I did a thorough search but could not find an answer for this case.
I appreciate any help you can provide!
Is your driving license still valid? AFAIK if you are resident in Germany (with a non EU driving license) you should have changed it for a German one after 6 months.
My driver's license is still valid. But I haven't changed it to a German one, and I do not plan to change it soon since it is a long process. So, it is not valid in Germany at the moment.
I have just received a reply from Strassenverkehrsamt saying that my driver's license would be valid in CH.
Thanks for all the insight!
