My daughter lost her Ausweis card (C permit), so she reported that it was missing to the local police. She then found the permit. However as it had been registered as lost, the police said that we have to continue with the process to get a duplicate issued.
We have been to the Gemeinde who advised it takes 2 weeks to get the duplicate (it should have arrived this week). We have now received a letter for a Migrationsamt appointment. The appointment is for 1st December, however we fly to the UK on 2nd December (the first time in 2 years). As I understand, post Brexit, she needs a passport and an Auswies to fly. Therefore are you aware of any way that she can get a duplicate Ausweis at short notice?
When I called the Migrationsamt the lady said that she couldn't help me and there were no earlier appointment.
I flew a couple of weeks ago to the U.K. without my C-Permit - which I had sent off for renewal.
The Swiss wanted to see it it on the outward and return journey but when I explained that I had sent it off for renewal, they checked their system to confirm this and let me on my way.
As your daughter's Ausweis is logged in the system as logged, she should be okay without it and I wouldn't worry.

I think this applies to people with a new permit and not for those already resident in Switzerland.
Many thanks for your speedy replies! I very much appreciate it. When I was at the Gemeinde I asked them for a confirmation of residency - which they have provided (free of charge). I have a copy of my daughters cancelled Ausweis and I will take her passport when we travel. Luckily I am travelling with her.
I had to wait ages for a B Permit renewal earlier in the year and it was delayed further by me having to cancel an appointment because I had to go into hospital for an op at very short notice.
The appointment was because I was being issued with a biometric one so had to go and have the photos and fingerprints done. When I took my old permit in with my passport and the renewal form the lady on the desk told me it didn't matter it had expired because I was logged in the system as waiting for a new one, so there was nothing to worry about.
Minor silver lining - possibly a very handy bit of information in a similar situation to yours. I imagine this situation could become quite commonplace in the near future.
