Also could do with air conditioning refresh as well.
I asked one place and they wanted 800 CHF just for the coilsprings??? This strikes me as crazy!

Sure the price is expensive compared to elsewhere, but in the same vein, the cost of living is expensive here too, we get salaries well above anything else in Europe. So the mechanic/garage who do your springs is just charging a price that allows him/them to live like other people elsewhere doing the same thing but in an economy that is less expensive then here.
What do you earn compared to where you come from in the UK, what is the amount of disposable income you have left over at the end of the month ?
How much are the parts ?
A couple hours later, all was fine with a bill for EUR 140 or so!
Another time, we got a flat, also near Trieste. Bad valve. Found a guy down the street from our house, EUR 10 all in (he had to pull the tire to replace the valve)!

This was all during COVID lockdown so couldn't cross the border. If you don't care about the parts/looking for something cheaper, suggest maybe going with ATU over the border. On my car, they do front and rear coil spring replacement with alignment(parts & labor) for 250 Euros....
