Retirement Home in ZH with international people?

well my mother is american and swiss,so i signed her up for medicare in the usa, which because she is just at 90 years old getting medicare and did not sign up for it at 65 she has to pay a penalty so that comes to about $369 a month. then i purchased supplemental insurance to cover everything medicare doesn't cover and a prescription plan , it covers everything and we don't pay anything out of pocket , all of this comes to about $700 a month and you could get it cheeper if you don't need all this coverage. the cost for where she lives is $2350. which includes a hugh studio apartment with a big balcony ,three meals a day , TV, all electric (heat/lights/air cond) plus it includes shows that comes to her place and also free transport to some stores or anywhere within a 10mile radius . when i was looking at these retirement places there are so many you could get less expansive if you wanted ,i found some as low as $1900 a month but the room was smaller. her AHV comes to america which actually covers the $2350 amount almost exact . please ask any questions you have i am happy to help

Thanks.

Neither me or anyone in my family has a US passport - so it was just a question out of curiosity.

If your mom is happy, this is the most important thing (and that it doesn't ruin you financially).

she is happy , zurich was a very lonely place for a woman her age , thank you and we thank God for AHV or couldn't do it , i had also tried to put her in a retirement home in zurich but that was a 5-10 year waiting list

I guess I am a little too late, I am a English native from Canada British columbia, I am fluent in German and have been living in Switzerland for 4 years, I have just finished my Care Aide course through the Swiss Red Cross " PflegeHelfer durch die Schweizerisches rotes kreutz " At the end of the month I will be moving from Wallis southern Switzerland to Zurich and of course will be looking for work.
