Correct. The risk caused by certain dental problems is way higher than the risk posed by dental x-ray. Dental x-ray equipment has an very low radiation level compared to other medical x-ray. And the three TV minutes mentioned in one of my previous posts referred to dental x-ray without lead apron or lead frill, the use of which, of course, is mandatory.
I heard that from several female patients. And somewhere on another thread, I posted one of the very few dentist jokes that exist: A woman sits down on the dental chair and says to the dentist, "Gosh, I think I'd rather give birth to another child than spend another night with this kind of toothache." The dentist, dead pan, says, "It's up to you, ma'm. Just make your decision now so I can adjust the position of the chair accordingly."
I have quite a collection of possible ways to damage a tooth, pregnancy cravings included, but this one is new to me. Thanks!
Very strange, but I got an impression of your post : it looks deeply inside you're still deeply in love with somebody you loved long time ago. It is impossible to catch happiness by simply getting pregnant. Body is against it and still cry and loves him, even if it was over couple years ago. Pregnancy is not erasing your memory.
Please give us a call, I am in Basel. Its important that you replace amalgam mercury fillings with the correct material, or you will have even more problems afterwards!
Many people hate their crumbly, creeping , corroded amlagam mercury fillings. Me too.
However, what are you going to use instead?
The correct material is important if you wish to keep your teeth all your life.
Amalgam is really a poor material: it is not only toxic and lethal, due to the mercury, it crumbles, becomes brittle and causes more decay and tooth loss. Its best to replace it for abetter material which is not toxic.
Removing amalgam fillings releases more mercury into your system than a lifetime of leaving them in there. YOu pick up more mercury from an average can of tuna than a mouthful of fillings will give you in a lifetime. Most sensible advice is if the fillings are sound leave them in place. Take them out only if there is a need.
Edit - sorry Cpt Greybeard - just saw you also posted this further up!
The question is not so much, why remove amalgam, as it is clear that amalgam is a toxic heavy metal material and prohibited in Germany for fillings for women ( not for men) and mercury thermometers are to be banned by the UN.
Mercury has caused problems when used in vaccinations.
Mercury was used to treat syphilis 100 years ago but now they use antibiotics. But they still are using mercury to kill dental bacteria and fill in the cavities left behind.
The real question is: " which material am I going to use instead of my amalgam?"
I have had my amalgams replaced and have had no problems for 30 years!!
Captain Greybeard, you are the BEST! I love your sound advice, which is clearly from a professional.
Needless to say that pregnancy generally has a bad reputation in the barfing field anyway.[/QUOTE]
Which can lead to problems of erosion of the enamel. Always rinse your mouth, after you vomit. Sorry for you...Captain, do you have a suggestion in this area? Would a teaspoon of baking soda (natron), in water, help to neutralize the stomach acids?
Captain Greybeard is the expert in this area. I'd like to hear his response.
I recommend the safe removal of both plastic and mercury fillings. Mercury is a lethal, heavy-metal toxin while plastic fillings leak and kill the tooth, creating an immune response. Holistic dental care is best.
