I will have two friends visiting me in CH in May for 10 days. They want to go to Zermatt for 3-4 days, then in area of Interlaken, and see some other highlights of CH. In Zermatt they will stay for 2-3 nights, but other than that they will commute to Luzern/Interlaken/Rapperswil-Jona/Bern from my place (Zurich).
I was thinking of buying few Tageskarte for them as I thought its the best, from economical perspective option. Maybe I am not aware, and there is something better that you could recommend?
I usually get a Swiss Travel Pass Flex for my visitors. It’s sort of a limited time GA, with a few extras tossed in.
It is not the most economical option, but given that few of my visitors arrive with an agenda, the ‘GA-like’ aspect is attractive. I can put them on a train to somewhere, anywhere, and they are good.
What I might save in searching for less expensive point to point tickets would be eaten up in ulcer meds, as getting some of my less travel-savvy visitors around is usually akin to herding squirrells uphill.

My sister recently visited me for several weeks and I bought her a one month half tax for 120 and then we bought all the tickets half price.
We traveled to Montreux, and took the golden pass, another time we went to Bern and several times in and around Zurich, as well as Basel. It was worth it in her case...you have to do the math to see. We did the touristic routes first class. Another way to save money is to buy supersaver tickets which requires some planning, but also well worth it if you can do it this way.
As meloncollie states above though, unless you have a lot of patience and your visitors are travel savvy, this is not the most efficient strategy all the time.
Looks like a good alternative, when trip plan is not known yet - you can pick the days. Tageskarte does not bring this comfort - as cards have to booked in advance and on specific days. So it can happen that weather ruins the trip. Economic wise 6x45 CH (one day Tageskarte) is 270 instead of 384.
