Schengen Visa for Non-married partner

Hi all,

Since early December last year I'm a happy resident of Zurich, working there in VC. Coming from the Netherlands as a Dutch citizen the move was nice and smooth. Also I have gotten my B-permit.

At the moment my girlfriend and I are looking at what it would take to get her a Schengen visa for a year. So she can come and visit me here, live at my place and so we can explore the rest of Europe. She is Russian and lives in Moscow. I've been reading that due to corona it can be difficult, because she has Sputnik (not recognized by the WHO) and in general there are extra restrictions.

There should be a possibility to get her a visa if I send her an invitation letter and if we can prove our relationship. Does anyone here has any experience with this or tips on how to get her here from time to time?

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Patrick

Check if they offer concubine permits in Zurich (yes, that is the word) but know that you will be financially responsible for all cost.

I have tried to find info about long term Schengen visas before. They do not seem to exist, it seems to be maximum 3 months. After that seems you have to apply for a residence permit. However, get her to call her Swiss embassy in Moscow and ask if it is possible to apply for a tourist visa of longer than 3 months - maybe it is an unadvertised possibility.

Well, she wants to take care of her costs herself and I read that the term is fixed for several years. That might be a bit extensive for now. We are just looking for a visa so that she can come over several times a year (preferably maybe months at a time)

maybe this will help.

So, no, then.

You might find some useful info here:

and presumably these situations will be treated differently once/if we ever arrive in post-covid times.

Thanks for all the help. We drafted a letter to send with supporting evidence of the relationship. Hope that will give at least a short term one.
