Secondhand Watch Shops

Hi Everyone

Just wondering if anyone knows of any secondhand / used watch shops in Zurich. I know these companies exist on line but i've got a friend visiting who is looking for something like a TAG but clearly not for brand new prices.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Brian

Don't know about any in Zurich, but saw a couple in the old town in Luzern, which is only an hour away by train.

There is a second hand watch shop in Zürich as you walk between Bahnofstrasse and the Niederdorf, on the left hand side between Rennweg and Weinplatz. The shop is about 2m wide, so you can easily miss it.

Last weekend in Kongresshaus Zurich there was a second hands watch sale.

Next one will be in Basel.

There's one near Bellevue on the corner next to the Bodyshop and Navyboot shops. Another one is on Rathausbrücke in the area where the Marinello, Kiosk and takeaway stalls are.

There used to be on on the Rindermarkt, in the Niederdorf - on the left side, as you walk up toward Neumarkt, small shop, easy to miss... but this is a good few years ago, not sure if it's still there. They had an extensive selection of antique and used watches.

Also there's something called "Bijou D'or" Watchland (sic) in the Seefeld (Seefeldstr. 7). Never been there personally though, so don't know whether it can be recommended.

Seems like you have your heart set on buying from a shop. But be careful, the prices are outrageous compared to eBay and Ricardo (usually 3 times the price of same/similar watches)

There are very respectable swiss ebay traders like watchmeisterin (there's a search for sellers id facility in ebay)

or you can be a bit more daring and buy from well established US/UK traders.

I've bought online from watch forums such as timezone.com and watchuseek.com with success - as always, research the seller!

I doubt you will find great deals, even in second hand shops. I have been to a couple near Bellevue, and while prices were ok, selection was limited.

As nksyoon points out, there are a lot of watch sites out there where users trade quite often. You can find some real bargains on almost new watches. Again, you need to be a bit careful, but it is quite easy to identify the long time sellers. If your friend is not living in the US, it may be a bit more difficult, as many of these sites are US based.

Good luck.

I have walked past this store quite often, but have never stuck my head inside, for fear of walking out with some Breitling monster on my wrist:

Store is on Bleicherweg in ZH just west of Paradeplatz.
