Hello all,
I know there are a lot of similar threads.
Last year I bought a Citroen C4 SpaceTourer (2019 model) for 9 passengers in an Agency as new (it only had 35 km when I bought it).
Total price of the car is 29000 chF, and I paid 7000 chF initially, for a 4 years leasing paying 325 chF every month.
The problem is that my wife and I are not in good terms anymore and after the separation process, I need to pay a High alimony which makes me hard to keep the car, and taking in mind that now I live in Basel, I don't really need the car anymore.
I would like to sell it as someone mentioned in the forum, but I am a foreigner with very limited German, and I know there are a lot of scammers and people which if I try to sell the car, will try to steal from me.
So my question is, is there a firm that can assist me on selling the car for me? What is the safest way to sell the car without having the risk of having some fraudulent person trying to cheat me and steal the car?
Any input is appreciated.
Best Regards,
Rodolfo
You mean you want to sell the lease?
I get it, it's a very stressful time. But please don't think the world is against you (lots of scammers). There are a few scammers out there but most people is honest.
Well, there are several options:
1) Anticipated resiliation of lease contract: if you read the contract there's an option to end the lease before the agreed term. You write a letter to the financial institution asking for this, you give the car back and bye. Only downside is a money penalty. Considering the price of the car and the initial payment you made, this money penalty could be between 1-3K CHF. But that's my guess, read your contract. This money penalty hurts but you're free from the lease in 1-2 months. Bye bye worries.
2) Lease transfer by yourself: check this website specialized on ads of people in the same situation as you. https://leasetransfer.ch/en/ Only issue is you're in charge of the lease transfer process.
3) Lease transfer done by someone else: talk to the people you got the car from. They earn money in every operation they do. So, they earned money when they worked on the lease for you, they'll make more money when they transfer the lease to someone else. Of course, they need to charge something for their work. But these days cars are scarce due to production problems, so a relatively recent model with low mileage may be interesting to them.
In the end all that matters if how much money and effort you're willing to invest in finding a solution.
You do not 'own' the car if it is a lease.
The best first step is to contact the leasing company, explain that your circumstances have changed and ask them to calculate what the 'exit' cost would be if you finish the lease either now or in around 6-12 months.
Then decide whether that is what you need to do.
I highly doubt you will make money by selling the lease - you are not selling the car - you don't own it - you own a lease....
