Shipping a car from CA to Zurich

I would love to know more about importing, please do comment on what you've experienced/know to be true, THANKS!!!

We only imported that car as far as Spain. The process was easier there as we hired a pro to handle the paperwork (~300 Euros) and a shop to make the few changes required (~500 Euros). FWIW, it was a 2003 MINI. Still have the car so it was worth it for us.

As others have stated, if you can source a European COC, the process will be easier for you. We imported another car to Switzerland from Spain, with a COC and it was simple.

Maybe.

I bought a new Italian motorcycle in Italy, had the COC, was friends with the Swiss importer and the local dealer, as well as the CEO of the manufacturer, and it still took 2k and almost a year to get it imported (not counting import taxes).

We are in a similar situation but planning to ship our car from Los Angeles. I was quotes through Schumacher.

Does anyone have a recommendation on Swiss Auto Insurance. I know it's an extra step to get insured when you still have US plates and are in the process of switching over to Swiss plates. Any advice is appreciated.

You cannot go wrong with Schumacher. They are simply the best.
