Its my first time to write here and hope i can get your advices
I live in Switzerland and am planning to start a small business(Einzelfirma), my business will be about Souvenirs, i want to sell my Products to shops, can shops like Manor and Coop buy from me if am (Einzefirma) or must i at least have (GmbH)?
I will give them better quality and cheaper price and more offers than big companies?
Do you think i will have a chance to compete with starting with small possibilities ?
To do business with a large company such as Coop, Migros or Nanor for instance you first have to get on their preferred supplier list which does include such basics as an appropriate legal structure, correct permits etc. The company is not going to commit carrying a product in all of their stores around the country from a company that is not well established.
Furthermore you need to be able to produce high quality and in volume to be considered as a serious supplier. Companies are not going to spend time and money on promoting a product that they can only carry in some of their stores because the supplier can only supply 5,000 units per week when they need 50,000 units. This requires facilities, financing and know how that a small business does not have.
If the OP had a very unique product with an established reputation ir might be a starting point, but we’re not. We are talking about supplying souvenirs and trinkets on a cost and quality basis in a market that is very well established.
