Don't get me wrong Ace, im like you and have a specific iron for waxing aswell as all the other stuff we don't really need but Im sure you will agree, unless your on your board or skis everyday and willing to spend some good money on the right service gear then and old iron, without holes, and yellow wax is the way to go.

Quite the opposite - my old phillips one has done sterling service for years. I only got the Toko one as it was on offer in Otto's for around 50 francs last month. Well, that and the frayed cord on the old one - so old that it's not even a plastic covered lead - must have had it since about 1980.

Id like to know how many kilos of wax that old iron melted during it's time.
I got the full kit on Ricardo recently for chf100,a super one off deal, I was looking at the kit in the shops & I reckon I got about chf 300 worth of tuning gear for 99,delighted.
You will also need a scraper as well as the iron & wax. I recently did 2 snowboard in about 30 minutes & was quite pleased with the results. It is worth it if you spend a lot of time on the slopes but maybe not worth it if you spend less time & you leave in the next few in the.
