Hi all,
As it happens, I let my hair down after almost 2 years of good driving and i got flashed by a static camera in SZ in built up area at net 20km/h.
I am awaiting the news, but I noticed here:
https://www.sz.ch/baudepartement/ver…9345-9397-9401
Apparently 16-20km/h above limit is just a warning now?
The penalties seem lower than 2 years ago when I last got flashed?
My last violation was a gross violation in June 2022, in Zurich. I got a financial penalty, suspended for 2 years. Will this now be enacted?
Last: In SZ website it states the penalties: ‘on 1st violation’.
Do you guys think that my violation from June 2022 will be taken into account, and therefore get a harsher slap?
thanks
Gross violation for Innerorts start at +25kph and 30-zone at +20kph. If your latest infraction is classified as gross violation, then yes your Jun-2022 suspended penalty gets enacted.
Nothing has changed since 2013, still the same penalties and consequences: Serious Speeding - the law, the fines.
Assuming a speed limit of 50 km/h inside city limits.
16 - 20 km/h over is a misdemeanor punished with a fine from the prosecutor. They can take into account your old behavior, so expect more than the standard CHF 400 (and as usual fees on top). 21 - 25 km/h is still a misdemeanor, again expect a harsher penalty than the standard CHF 600.
The suspended monetary penalty should not be affected by a misdemeanor, only if you commit a serious traffic infraction or an other contravention or felony can they revoke it.
As you had a driving ban due to a serious traffic infraction in the last 2 years: For 16 - 20 km/h over expect a driving ban of at least one month, for 21 - 25 km/h over it will be 4 month minimum.
How do you know it is net 20Km/h?
Is that your estimate? If so, based on what?
they sent me the letter outlining the offence. and asking for confirmation of the drive.
