In the days of old and we had a cleaning lady, the best advantage for my OH was that he could blame the loss of anything on her. Whenever he complains about something having gone magically 'missing' we still blame Georgia- bless her cotton socks.
OH is very fussy about his dress shirts - and I really hate ironing. So (after years of therapy and marriage counseling ) one of the few luxuries we allow ourselves is handing the task over to the local cleaners.
Cost is only a couple of francs, and you can get an abo for 50 or 100 shirts which reduces the price further. Which as I see it is less expensive than half his assets in a divorce , not to mention a pretty good deal when you consider the cost one of those be-all-end-all steam irons plus the hours of drudgery.
For everyday wear he has to put up with my ironing abilities and timetable - or do it himself. An el cheapo Migros M-Electric iron has stood us in good stead for a decade or so.
My OH is so fussy about his shirts that he won't even let the cleaners do them. This iron is really his toy. HE irons his shirts every morning. Sometimes he'll iron them all in one go, the RE-iron one the day he wants to wear it.
I don't even bother to tell him that they just get wrinkly when he moves. He might have a heart attack.
The stupid linen sheets were my dumb idea. So I get the pleasure of dealing with those.
That may be taking things a bit far, but I confess that I'm never truly happy when anyone else irons my shirts. Our cleaning lady does all the ironing now, since we had a proper steam ironing system as discussed, and it bothers me that she can't seem to be consistent with creases in the arms, and often doesn't do the collar buttons up after ironing...
But life's too short, and I don't wear suits and ties anyway these days, so my shirts are only ever worn with jeans or leisure trousers, so I just live with it. Rather that than do my own.
maybe I need to try again...our temp flat in Horgen had one (I think it was a Tefal as well) and I wasn't too impressed with its performance compared to my normal steam iron without the big reservoir thing...
Anyone care to share the model number they swear by (I will do a quick look-through again to see if my distracted thread reading has just missed this point...)
I have a Laura star worth every penny I only have to iron 1 side of a t.shirt/ jumper. Steam pants and jackets saves lots of time well worth the money I love it
Yes. That's the one. But apparently there are different model #s of the same. I don't know what the minute differences are between them. But DH says he picked the best one of the different models. I'll let him believe that cuz I don't know any different. Let me know when you are coming over. I'll save some ironing for you to test out the machine.
