Subletting a room in a rented apartment

Hello everyone,

My partner and I have recently moved into a new big apartment in Zurich. We have a free room and we would like to temporarily rent it to a friend. Our contract clearly states that up to 3 people can live in the apartment. So, can we sublet the room with a sublease agreement?

It would be nice to know how it works (I.e. if we have the right to sublet the room) before asking to our agency.

Should be able to, but you must let the agency know about it. And you can’t profit from sub-letting.
