Hello!
I'm intending to imminently move to Switzerland, having considered it for many years. I'm an EU citizen and my wife is not. I'm intending to apply for a B Permit.
I do not intend on working in Switzerland and so I wanted to know if anyone has any information or knowledge about how financial means is determined for those without gainful employment and not seeking gainful employment, and indeed what the criteria are (are there actual figures published? what documentation is required etc)?
And as a related question, does the fact that I'd not be seeking gainful employment affect the visa status of my non-EU wife? Does she need to separately prove sufficient financial means? Is this done jointly as a couple?
Thank you for any help!
Welcome to the Forum.
Here are a few threads that may help:

Thank you for the warm welcome! Have read through the posts and found them very useful.
Thank you for this! One of the concepts referenced I have seen a number of times:
"Financial means are deemed adequate if they exceed the welfare entitlement threshold established under Swiss law. Here, Swiss Welfare Conference (SKOS) guidelines serve as the main frame of reference."
Do you happen to know where one finds the mentioned guidelines? I have looked myself but am struggling to find.
Thank you

they don’t help much, but for 2 people it says 1577 CHF + rent + basic health insurance for 2 persons + I would add a buffer of some hundreds of CHF to cover other extra expenses they could compute.
....so that is about Chf 4.5k minimum per month to live like a pauper
Interesting, thank you. Very useful information!
