sushi in Lausanne?

Regarding Ko-an restaurant in Lutry. If you have ever been to good sushi restaurants in New York or London, read on and consider yourself warned.

This restaurant is a joke! These people do not know what sushi restaurant is! Smallest and thinest pieces of fresh fish on top of rice I've ever seen in my life on sushi and ONE piece like that costs CHF 6! They have a picture of eel on their website and it looks big and nice, not the case in reality at all! One hand roll of spicy tuna costs CHF 12 and it is small of course and there is no spicy sauce mixed with the tuna, it was just chopped up tuna. Tuna on the sushi was not fresh, you could taste that it was not fresh and fish looked disintegrated. For desert I ordered red beans ice cream, it was the worst red bean ice cream I've ever tasted in my life, usually it is my favorite desert in japanese restaurant. The waiter was extremely slow and took away my sake before I finished it.

Thanks for the report! I live in Lutry and was thinking giving this place a try, but now I'll reconsider!

La Barca in Lutry is very nice, by the way. Excellent food, good quality/price, and even some Portuguese dish if you like them (my OH is Portuguese and said they were excellent)

I tried this resto in Oct. and it was the most disappointing sushi I have ever had. Would also not recommend this resto. Did enjoy the sushi resto at Lausanne Palace however.

Ichi ban in Ouchy is my favourite, it's not cheap but it is good quality and the service is friendly. http://www.ichi-ban.ch/

I also recommend Ichi Ban

My friends and I are avid Japanese and sushi fans. (If you're ever in Frankfurt you must go to Iroha) We found this place in Lausanne for a pre-New Years dinner last year and enjoyed it a lot. I've been back a number of times throughout the year and recommend you give them a try.

Sushi in general is not fab in Lausanne area, you may be luckier in Geneva. The Lausanne Palace is decent, But very expensive... Ko-an is booooring, expensive and bad... There is a small place in Pully as well, cheaper, not great and with little choice, but in a pinch i went there a few times. Myo in Lausanne is good, has quite tasty bento boxes for lunch...

I used to live near a place called sushiman ( www.sushiman.ch ). It's actually a really good price for the quality they serve, you can eat very well for around 30 fr per person, and if you order in advance you can get a large variety of nigiri. If you go spontaneously to the shop to go, you will find they do many makis and futomakis, the best of which include the salmon-avocado combination. They also propose novelties like salmon-fresh cheese or shrimp tempura rolls, and have good drinks and salads to go as well.

The two adresses are near Parc de Milan (Avenue de Cour) and St François (Rue de la Grotte).

just tried the sushi bar at the bottom floor Globus (Flon) today. I thought it was very good, tasted fresh and the rolls were large. We shared a Dragon Roll and Tuna Devil Roll, which was the spiciest thing I have eaten in 4 years in Switzerland

Hi, the best Japonese restaurant araound/ in Lausanne is MYO for me, too. If you have lunch ," the fee of menu du jour" is in very acceptable rate.

In versoix , Uchino is normally average for me..in Geneva , Takimi is also expensive and ambiance is formel..
