Swica Health Insurance

I just got of the phone with a consultant at Swica. Its only medicine, treatments and doctors visits that goes towards your franchise, just like with any health insurance. The 500 chf for gym, 300 for yoga or other preventative measures, 200 to glasses, 500 for medical checkups etc does NOT go towards your franchise.

Ok, I'm glad you checked. Maybe they changed. I was confused enough to have a look at an old thread where I found this:

Your opinion on SWICA's "top-ups"

Also, I looked at my old policy (2012) and sure enough it says that I have a franchise of Fr.1500 on the completa top and completa preventa (same franchise as my Favorit Telmed).

Not doubting you. This would be interesting for me next year as apart from this, I thought they were great!

No worries, i specifically asked since you mentioned it here so thanks for the heads-up on that, it would be ridiculous if the gym money for example was included in the franchise, i would never go over 2500 chf/year.

I didnt ask about the "alternative treatments" and herbal medicine, acupuncture or whatever though - since i will probably never use that, but i think those go into the franchise and that actually makes sense.

After reading good reviews about Swica and studying their packages, I decided to request a quote for the plans I was interested in. It took more than a day to receive the quote by email and it did not include all the information I had requested. I called to request a corrected quote, and one day later, I once again received a quote without the specifications I had requested. So I had to call one more time to kindly ask for a corrected quote and the agent on the line told me that I had called too many times and that they wouldn't send me another quote. A was appalled by their answer, as I had to call several times because they did not send the right quotes in the first place. Costumer service is there to inform prospective clients about the company's services and clarify doubts, rather than chase people away. So after this bad costumer service experience I decided not to choose Swica as my insurance company.

I'm with SWICA and my advisor used to live in the UK for 9 years, so he is fluent in English. Eventhough he doesn't the direct selling, he always helps me and give me advise.

SWICA does pays for glasses/ lenses under one of their additional covers - completa top 90% up to 200 CHF per 3 year without taking it from the Franchise. Under another one of their covers you get another 300, but not sure which one that was. Didn't take that cover.

They pay for the gym only if it's on their list, which is on their Website.

Always been very happy with their Speed of Service and their Feedback

After moving here about 4 months ago and comparing different insurers. I decided to take our family to SWICA. The reasons were very similar than already presented: good service, everything available in English. On top of that we get a (modest) company discount that applies to the whole family. They made selecting them very easy because the agent came to meet me at work! Another time we needed to fill in some family details so he came to our home. The agent's English was not perfect but completely understandable and the service attitude more than made up for it. Initially it took a while to get a response from them - apparently autumn is a busy time of the year - but once I established contact with the agent I feel things have progressed well.

We've yet to claim anything (knocks on wood) so I can't comment about that part. I would actually be interested in hearing experiences from their partner clinic - Centramed in Zug. Has anybody dealt with them? How was it? Their website could be much better.

I have Swica. All I can say is good things about them.
