Hi all

I have several quick questions.

I've lived in Switzerland for 7+ years, married with a swiss for 3+ years and live in Basel-City for 3+ years. I have B1 and B2 cert. for german and no debt, no social help no criminal record, have a master degree at a swiss univ. etc. and finally I have a C permit through VINTA. (non EU)

Well here are my questions:

1- I would like to apply citizenship in the beginning of October. I think, it called " Simplified naturalisation " in my case. But before the application, shall I prepare myself for the interview? or will I have enough time?

2- I do not go any swiss club, nor cultural events. Is it a big problem?

3- I have only swiss work colleagues. My friends are mostly foreigner. But of course I contact my wife's brother and her mother.. Is it OK?

In my case, it was more than six months after my application that I had to go for an interview.

Basically, you need to show you are integrated into Swiss life - probably easier in a city than in a village.

In my case in my village, I used to drink in the same bar as the local Gemeinde so it was not a problem.

You'll be fine. I got it and my German is crap and I'm in no clubs.

You need 3 Swiss people as references, so hit up some of those work colleagues to see if they'll do that for you (mine weren't contacted).

I'm sure you can, but I guess it wouldn't look so good if you keep it within the family.

By all means, do. But try to add at least one non-family member too.

Yes, fine.

In Basel and the towns nearby, all they really care about is.

1. You meet any language requirement (don't know if this applies for facilitated naturalisation).

2. You pay your taxes.

3. You don't have a criminal record.

4. You don't live in anexpat bubble - not using local services and shops and exclusively spending time with your fellow countryfolk

5. You identify and align with Swiss values. Whatever they are.
