Swiss Citizenship from Great Grandparents

Aw, calm down. Nobody's attacking you, just picking some holes in the realisticness of your idea. That's what you came on here for, right, to get other people's opinions on whether it's doable?

There's no doubt that financial feasibility is a legitimate concern, but things do change — often in ways we can't foresee. Realism has value, but it doesn't have to shut dreams down completely.

I was making less than $40k until just a few years before I got my little red book, by which time my income had unexpectedly become more than double that. Then, when I moved here (at 50+), I traded a middle-middle-class life in the US for a lower-middle-class life in CH, but I'm HERE , where I've wanted to live for most of my life. And I'm happy .

My own retirement prospects are not especially pretty, but I also don't plan to 'retire' until I absolutely have no choice.

My story may be unusual, but it shows that things can change, doors can open, and (even well-intentioned) nay-sayers can (thank God!) be wrong in the end.

For whatever reason, the local Swiss authorities have given the OP a green light for documenting his connection to his Swiss ancestry. We don't know why or what the outcome will be. But sometimes life trumps what we perceive as 'reality' in ways well worth embracing.

Hey,

Currently starting this process. How did this work for you, OP?
