Swiss Football - Super League, Challenge League & below + National team

Next round is Basel v Xamax, so that should set the ball rolling... well, you never know...

Perhaps the club needs to work on their season ticket deals ... and offer lots of specials (eg, Sydney FC, in the second season of the A-League, gave every season ticket holder two 'free passes' which they could use to bring along guests - either two guests to one game, or one guest to each of two games. I got one of my mates involved, and later a season ticket holder, by bringing him along to two matches (Sydney vs Melbourne Victory, always a big match both on and off the field, and Sydney vs Central Coast, which is always fun!).

It's sad when a club starts dying ...

We can dream ...

So who is watching the Bulgaria v Switzerland game today? A MUST win! Tough too with some top midfielders out injured. Looks like the Swiss need Montenegro to start losing to have a chance.

Let me know if you need a link for the game by PM

A boring game. Very disappointing for the Swiss and makes it very hard to qualify now. Swiss weren't the better team in the first half but they made the best chances. Were much the better team in the second half and only stopped by a good keeping performance and their own lack of urgency until the latter stages. I know the Swiss public and press have high expectations (possibly unrealistically so given how the Swiss have over achieved) so I am sure Hitzfeld is in line for some serious pressure and criticism.

Wow Alan Smith just said on Sky Sports that Frei has 2 goals in about 80 caps. The stat read out was over 40 in 80 odd caps. How wrong could he be! He said it with such conviction though as if he has so much fantastic knowledge of world football! Also the pundits were talking as if the Swiss are much weaker than Bulgaria even though they are 20 odd places ahead of them in the (iffy) rankings.

I didn't realise how barren Derdiyok is for Nati!

Indeed. .

Can anyone confirm for me if the Swiss Super League is lenient with the FIFA rules that result in an automatic yellow card for removing one's shirt?

Eric Hassli (formerly FC Zurich) is now with the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS and recently took off his shirt after a goal. He was wearing a long sleeve jersy and removed to reveal a short-sleeved jersey underneath (and threw the long-sleeve into the stands). He got a yellow card, of course, and afterwards tried to claim that this was allowed in the Swiss Super League.

FYI: http://www.canada.com/sports/Hassli+...974/story.html

Thanks in advance if anyone can verify if this is allowed in the Swiss league.

Andrew

not super league, but worth showing:

Sorry but I can't help On that query.

Great video by the way. I saw that online. All Swiss football is fine.

I watched some of the Thun match yesterday and plan on watching some games online today

Went to the FCZ-GCZ match today with a mate from Australia. Quality performance from the Südkurve, especially the tifo at the start. FCZ did well on the field as well, coming away 1-0 up after a fairly solid performance. A couple of times it looked like they were about to concede a goal, despite dominating the bulk of the play, but they managed to keep things together to win.

Great stuff. A thriller in Bern today too but I missed it

Oh dear. I smell trouble

Maybe our Xamax fan on here can give his opinion. I know it is easy to get carried away with such prospects, but as a neutral fan I really fear the worst here, especially with his OTT bold claims.

Just back from Lugano....

Lugano 0-Servette 6...

now there ae again small chances we make it this season...touching wood

Wow what a win! Is this the play off game?

I'll be in Switzerland for the Champions League final, Swiss cup final, a few FC Spiez games and England v Switzerland!!

Hi All

Now work has died down a bit I am hoping to get in to this thread again for the tiny amount of the season left.

The big Zurich derby is on today but I can only get a link of the Basel v Thun game which I am about to watch in a minute. This is fine as it is still a very relevant match for the title and of course Thun are my team. I hope Thun can cause an upset and I am sure Grasshoppers would love to stop FCZ winning the league too!

I'm hoping for an exciting end to the season and a good cup final following on from my team Crystal Palace staying up (and some fantastic scenes from the fans to celebrate).

I will be in Berner Oberland from 27th May til 5th June and then 3 weeks in August too. I will be watching the Swiss Cup final, the Champions League final and England v Switzerland (cheering on the Swiss) in a bar in Switzerland with friends. I will also go to a FC Spiez game, so if anyone wants to join me and my friends they are welcome to! Drop me a message.

Hope you all enjoy the games today. Stefan

the playoff was tonight!

We defeated Bellinzona and we are

P R O M O T E D

SFC the legend never dies!

This, along with Lausanne's promotion, is good news. Six weeks ago, who would have thought that either Servette or Lausanne had a hope in hell of pulling it off... Lugano's ability to self-destruct every April/May is quite amusing...

Definitely. A big thanks to Lugano. Without their harakiri Servette would still be waiting for a new chance next season. Now we have the opportunity to get back the role that belonged to us. Next season I will follow the team quite closely. Finally a new reason to travel Switzerland

Congratulations to the teams coming up!!

Let's hope you have some fun ...

Thank you very much

FC Basel Three championships in a row.

DIE SCHWEIZER MIESTER.

Gonna be at the the Basel Zurich game in august. Derby games are always a lot of fun even if it is still early in the season.

watching the first leg of the zurich champions league qualification, if we can get two teams in the champions league that would be good for swiss football. Still dont like them though
