There are places with very good machines. The one I use is pricey bu worth it. around 10CHF for 5 min. but it's strong... however it doesn't burn the skin, just goes in deep.
I'm not a foreigner so i can tell you the spring-summer weather isn't the same year to year. We have had some warm & dry months of may in the past.
Another great way to use lard!
There are tanning beds everywhere, just have to look. Usually they are self serve.
Like someone else said, the winter ski tan is quite sexy. Nothing better than just your neck and face tan. OOoooo... and goggles lines are tres chic!
Be prepared for smart comments from strangers. My, naturally dark, blonde friend gets them all the time.
sure i go everday, most of my friends do to, gues its just ...american culture
Thats pushing CHF 1800 per year...
Imagine, paying that much for leather skin.
Glad I am here
Not to mention skin cancer and looking like an Umpa Lumpa. I'll stick to getting my skin cancer in the natural way.
Or not. I'm American, I've never been to one in my life, and none of my friends go more than once a week.
I've no problem with you going as often as you like, of course - just saying it wouldn't necessarily be the norm in the States either. Think it really depends where you live and who you hang out with.
There are many self-serve, coin-operated tanning salons for that George Hamilton look.
I come all spotty when I go under the tan bed
Wow, a deeply ingrained desire to develop skin cancer...
I'll stay pale and interesting myself!
Hey traveller09 don't get upset. I'm not slagging the local weather... Some years it's very sunny and some years it's not. I am a "foreigner" but my Swiss friends crave the sun and nearly always go away to guarantee it for their holidays.
I found out that the best way to tan in Switzerland is to go up above the cloud soup. And if you want a full body tan, nude hiking is still not illegal in some places.
not sure where you live? - but most Americans I know don't tan anymore because of the skin cancer concern.
Anyhow, I knew a Californian who bought a UV lamp for his apartment he would use every morning to avoid depression from lack of sunlight. Doesn't give you a tan though.
What is the obsession with tanning anyway? Stick with the colour nature gave you. I see beauty in all skin colours.
In most places in CH, Phos. (You're getting psyched up for that much-discussed fresh-air activity, I see.)
There's an oxymoron if ever I've seen one
How about advice on not getting skin cancer ... they sell 50+ sun tan cream here in Switzerland and it really works. My advice is to get some before going on holiday like to Australia, where the sun exposure is really brutal ... because you can't find anything as good over there they only sell 30-35+ and it won't stop you from getting sun burn. Getting a tan in Aus isn't healthy...
I've just noticed that this is in the sports/fitness forum. Since when has tanning been a sport? And how is getting skin cancer related to fitness?
A question about sun tanning booths:
Does it provide Vitamin D the way the sun does?
(What I really want to know is if it has the same aphrodisiac effect on the Swiss as the sun does.)
Due to my lack of Vit.D I have been told that for a short, non oranging time, I should go for 5 mins to the sunbeds and this would be the same as being out in the sun for Vit.D... there you go, something new to learn every day. Still I chose to get out in the fresh air rather than get skin cancer... personal choices and all that....
