Taxation advice if continuing sole trader work in the UK

Hi All,

I‘ve moved to Switzerland from the UK for a full time role and therefore will receive a B-permit (I have an EU passport). However I previously worked in the UK as a sole trader (part time). I hope to continue my sole trader work in the UK while living&working in CH. My sole trader work is to only one company making approx £5k per year. Does anyone have any advice on how best to continue this work from a taxation perspective? Is it better to just ask payment straight to a CH account from the UK company, would this matter?

Also from what I‘ve read online, because of working for only one company with low earnings, I‘d only need to register at the Kantonal ausgleichkasse - is this correct?

Thanks for any input!

The Swiss authorities will not see you as a sole trader, but an employee of the company since it’s the only one you work for.

Thanks for your reply. Is this the case even if I have a full time role in a Swiss company here and then additionally I work part time as a sole trader?

No. You'll merely have two employers. You may need to check with your employer that they permit your side business.
