TCS - Touring Club Schweiz - cancelling membership

) His 4 year old Audi died in the middle of the street... so I wouldn't go that far with reliability

I wanted once, for my motorbike, in France. There used to be separate road assistance for bikes. After some talking with TCS phone operator, she told me I do not have any road assistance valid out of CH, even when I was reading her my data from the yellow TCS card. I was left on my own. I organised things with extremely helpful owner of my hotel, finally it didn't cost me much in money, the most expensive thing was a bottle of wine for the guy.

Few weeks later, already at home, they called me from TCS offering me a new product. I declined, expressing I do not trust them and explained the story.

A week later I got letter explaining it was the mistake of operator (they changed the name of the product or smth like that) and they gave me a Manor gift card with 50 chf for my troubles

So, according to my personal experience TCS Europe road assistance for motorbikes is worth less than a thin paper card on which you get your personal number. Better always carry a bottle of wine with you and give it to someone whom you will ask for help.

I'm likely gonna cancel for same reason.. I just bought a brand new car which has a button to summon assistance, which is included.. Well two buttons, one for help i broke down and a big red one for help I'm about to die. My new insurance also has assistance included..

But in fairness .. I had two older cars before and called TCS maybe 3 or 4 times over the years and found them very helpful.. The cost of towing your car one time to a garage justifies the membership really?

It does if you don't have it already included with your insurance.

I can see just calling TCS makes life easy, but the insurers must have a similar system.

I've sent in the cancellation, registered letter with verification.

That was straight forward.

Cancellation letters arrived yesterday, and today an invite to rejoin!

However I'm going with my car/house/liability insurer, so only one number to call, and no issues with double insurance etc.

It's the same price anyhow.
