Also keep in mind that the big tech giants fallen victim to declining ad consumption. They have to reinvent the revenue model to sustain the growth again. People don’t use search nor visit the pages pointed by search to consume ads.
Google will likely be fine. It’s the SMEs that will suffer from the traffic drop.
Fired employee in China fights layoff due to AI in court and wins.
It’s about time. I like the chineese approach …
Is it fair though? To force firms to subsidise outdating jobs
my opinion, firms need to find ways to (re)intigrate people and ai for the benefit of the firm, as part of the overall global village. people are neither batteries nor revenue source for a firm. firms are conglomorate of people that bring value to society as a whole, while generating revenue. the minute that focus changes to revenue only, ai becomes top dog and people secondary.
would ai be here today, if it were not for people and the resourcefulness? May be let ai replace top management and be tasked with (re)integrating people and ai for common global benefit, instead of sick high snr mgmt salaries?
I think we are at one of those crossroads in history where we ask which road are we going to take.
Only I think that in regard to AI the laws of the tragedy of the commons will sadly be the road taken.
may be it’s time to rise up? effect change?
Nah! Most outrage these days is tightly controlled and diliuted long before it gety to the “viva la revolution” stage with pitchforks and torches and lets not forget that prople are far too satisfied with the status quo.
it’s also because of all these justifications (moaning but accepting) that i would repeat what i said earlier on this thread.
it’s easier to bitch-and-stich-and-justify than to actually effect change

Even God provides the nut and the nutcracker - God does not crack the nuts.
I’m next to an UBS building in Alstetten while reading this:
Anthropic Unveils AI Agents to Field Financial Services Tasks
Anthropic PBC unveiled a set of new artificial intelligence agents designed to handle a broader mix of financial services tasks, part of the company’s push to win over Wall Street.
The Claude maker is releasing AI agents that it says can draft pitch decks for client meetings, review financial statements and escalate cases for compliance review. The new tools — 10 in total — are aimed at professionals across banking, insurance, asset management and financial technology.
It’s showtime. Can AI be reliable enough to be given responsibility? Or AI is coded to seem confident while hallucinating results?
It’s going to be a PITA if KYC is delegated to AI. Accounts blocked for whatever AI hallucination and then spend some time trying to get it fixed.
Or it may get better faster and less biased
Looks like there are going to be a lot of people who will need to be employed checking the AI generated output. This article is in German Vorurteile in Sprachmodellen - «ChatGPT, welcher Kanton ist intelligenter?» - News - SRF
The original academic study it refers to is in English, though it is much less readable.
Going to need something like this because if AI/robots really take off there’ll be hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people who have no employment and therefore have no way to feed, clothe, etc, themselves and family.
It won’t work unless you get every country to agree to this tax. Since we just had the BEPS initiative fail due to US now wanting to follow the rules they themselves suggested, you’ll just end up shipping the jobs to the countries who don’t charge a tax on robots.
I see Ai companies as being rather like drug dealers. Once companies, consumers, students etc.. are hooked on the product and can’t function without it, they jack up the prices. And of course we Ai junkies will pay.
So beware of these Ai companies who seem willing to absorb enormous (short term) financial losses in exchange for rapid adoption and behavioural lock-in.
I’m seeing it more as companies being the addict victims. I wouldn’t be surprised seeing salaries cut trend as more and more money per-employee will be spend on tokens for that employee.
They will always find another way.
Keep in mind that CN is not based on a capitalistic system.
