The Cablecom HD Mediabox is total rubbish

It sounds similar to the problem I've been having since the software update. After trying different combinations of starting/stopping the TV and the Cisco box, this eventually goes away.

Maybe my reinitialisation of the Cisco box (mentioned above) will help. I haven't had the problem since then, but that was only last night.

TV is about 1,5 years old. Distance is about 1 meter

Good point.

Try starting your devices is various orders. HDMI does sometimes impose a boot up order on the processors in your various AV devices if the implementations of HDCD don't mesh correctly. If nothing else works you could try a full power down of your devices. You will have to unplug them from the mains power to do this.

Also, you could try and see if there is a Firmware update for your Video monitor.

Good Luck.

using my logitech remote page up and page down works fine. much quicker and easier than using simply up and down.

not quite sure what you mean.

I can page up and down no problems, but when I move the highlight to select a program it scrolls the page up and down, the highlighted channel always stays on the same row (3rd down I think). It's very, very annoying.

Why doesn't the page lock like it used to? the highlight used to move while the page stayed static, now it's the opposite, moving up or down causes the channel to scroll, which would be fine, if it wasn't so bloody slow.

I wonder if someone at the Cablecom Customer Service Desk keeps touch

with this thread and answers some of the problems or explain the situation,

for the benefit of their Clients with EF?

To start with I am e-mailing this link to them:-

http://www.englishforum.ch/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=821862

with a suggestion.

Before I started this thread I wrote them quite a detailed explanation of some of the problems I'd been having. No answer, not surprisingly.

Some time later I wrote something uncomplimentary about Cablecom on Twitter (during a moment of frustration at issue #16: why does it frequently forget where I am in a program and resume from the beginning, forcing me to use the very very slow fast forward) and they hastily tweeted me back. They were very apologetic that I should be frustrated by their product and asked for some details.

To this I re-forwarded my original email. Again no answer, obviously.

I think the issue is not that Cablecom management don't know how bad they are, they are just incapable as an organisation of acting on it...

But, you are right - it would be great if a Cablecom representative could comment on this thread, particularly if they could tell us when they will completely rewrite the software to make the thing work properly (maybe they could employ whoever did the old SD digital recorder box - that was great)..

@englishtim - Could you explain more about this process? I have tried pushing the red CC button at the top of my remote with the box on and off and nothing happens.

thnx,

fduvall

I'm not sure I can repeat exactly what I did. I turned the power off, then on. Normally when I do this the box reboots and is able to generate a continuous picture over HDMI. On this occasion, however, I think I switched the power off and on very quickly, and somehow it failed to reboot normally. When it got stuck on 'Init' with no picture, the double-click of the red button brought up the original start-up screen.

These boxes often have a lot of secret button combinations to enter special config screens. Usually you only find these out from customer support when you have a problem. If anyone discovers any other special tricks please post in this thread.
