The General iPhone Thread and FAQ

Has anyone got any more info regarding Orange and Visual Voicemail? I did a google but got nowhere. It seems a bit ominous that they have not announced it...

iPhone 3G and Orange: Is Visual Voicemail included?

Unknown at this point.

I got the same letter for my contract, I phoned them up and argued a bit and they offered 20% discount so I asked them to reduce me and the missus from Maxima to the lowest value Optima and cancel our contracts when they expire. He said he's going to raise the case with his managers to see if they can offer anything, if not I'll leave.

Pretty bad practice from Orange really, they'll loose somebody who might be (i would have been) a good customer for many years over the sake of a few hundred chf.

Noooo, Mr P! I quote from the link you gave:

To avoid any confusion let me clarify that I am talking about just voicemail here and not visual voicemail and this article is for those who've unlocked their iPhone and have a non-functioning Voicemail button as just voicemail seems to work out of the box for some carriers like T-mobile.

Without the visual voicemail software/server on the carrier side and the feature provisioned to your mobile number you can't have visual voicemail.

Here's hoping Orange have done the necessary.

oops, maybe we should delete that link .... should pay more attention .. soz

Sorry, might have missed it, as I've only seen offers with contract, what will be the price of the phone without contract, as offered by Orange?

Went back through the thread, 999CHF!?!

I just wrote to orange, asked them how much it will be to cancel my current contract, also asked them why they chose to give existing customers such a poor deal.

500chf to cancel your contract, or at least that's what the nice man just told me.

Is that dependent on how much time you have left on the contract? or just a flat fee?

I think it's 300 flat for 12-month contracts and 500 flat for 24-month contracts

?? Even if I have 6 months left on the 2 year contract? The b******s, I knew that 2 year plan was a bad idea, but all the phones on the 1 year contracts were sh*t....

That'll teach me.

Just give Orange a call and ask them, they usually can look that up - my wife had to pay 300 Fr. to get out of a 12-month contract (with a bit more than 6 months left)

peter

The minimum tariff is 25chf/month, so it is often cheaper to just change to the cheaper tariff.

Btw, when u guys applied for iPhone??? And I guess u filled that online registration form available in their site???

I too filled that form 7-8 days back, both @orange as well as @swisscom, but still I havent got any mail from them.

May be they are giving priority to existing customer...coz I don't have any previous contract with orange or swisscom.

-Vib.

Most likely it has to do with how far ahead you signed up. The sites have been up for more than a month.

Ohh...got the answer in same post...but donno why I didnt get any mail from orange

I'm probably going to be scorned for saying this, but can't you seriously wait a few months more for the iphone, other then just chucking 500 fr. away?

is the screaming mob not at the door with torches & faggots yet ?

Luddite !!!!

I just called Orange back and spoke to a nice bloke called Fabio.

They are playing hardball and will call me back tomorrow and let me know if I can have this wretched device or not.

Huge demand forces O2 to suspend pre-orders

Pope prays at night, bears don't use portaloos etc...

Edit: ha ha, torches and faggots...

I find the research far more satisfying that actually owning the device. I spent 2 months studying and comparing dozens of camcorders and soaking up every last word on the web user forums. Then last month I picked one up on a trip to the States. I think I've used it twice since
