I believe to have read that Swisscom indeed will unlock iPhones after the 2-year contracts expire. But don't take my word for it - ask them, if this is important to you. They also sell their contract-free phones without SIM-Lock, albeit at a very high price.

Having just gone to my Orange shop, taken a ticket, then did shopping and eating for 40 mins to find on my return that my ticket number was still 15 mins away....
...I talked to a chap who appeared to know a lot about it, and this was in the background of the iphone POS display being put up. [Apparently] they have had over 16,000 reservations which were replies to the webform, so not likely that they are all genuine guaranteed sales. If you replied to the webform you left your mobile number and Orange will contact you with details of ordering. The main shop in Lausanne had no idea when they would actually get phones, the chap thinks that ALL initial orders will be by courier as the demand is so high.
He also had no idea (of course) of the date of the next shipment... so has anyone had a text from Orange?
Hmm, I thought my mail said phone up straight away but I don't have it to hand. When I phoned on Sunday they were willing to sign the missus up for one right there and then. Either way the nice lady in the shop told me it will be delivered Friday. We'll see Friday I guess.
The people on the number they give are well aware of the offer by the way, why don't your try to call them now.
Hi everyone I am only interested in purchasing the contractless iphone. I can not get one here in the UK on 11 July. Can anyone in Switzerland help me buy one? Many thanks.
I just called them on the number you gave. It is expressly for those customers who received the email and they ask for the phone number involved to verify. I gave them my swisscom swiss number and my UK Orange number but both times they said they could not help
Hey I have an iPhone reserved at a swisscom store but I don't like the plans that much and wanted to reserve it somewhere else with an orange plan but it's so hard to find a place that takes orders so I just decided to go to dataquest in the morning of the 11th. Do any of you know how long before the store opens i should go and "line up"? Theysaid that they would get 10-50 (how helpful of them).
One of the first wild sightings of a 3G iphone happened to be here
iPhone 3G breaks cover, shows up in Swiss store display
You probably saw this one coming, but with that massive slew of countries and partners Apple has wrangled for the new iPhone launch, that July 11th street date was bound to be neglected. So here you have it, courtesy of the french blog Gadget O'Mac, an iPhone 3G on display in a shop in Switzerland. While the shots may be blurry, we at least get to see this thing in the hands of someone other than an Apple employee, and coupled with that Portuguese leak , this should thoroughly whet your appetite for Friday. Check out a few more shots after the break.
