Makes 100 chf every 3 months.
When I approach the Nespresso store, a skinny but luxurious red carpet automatically rolls out of the doorway to greet me and a subtle, yet still recognizable, drum roll is played over the stereo system.
OK, bring it on.
You could do like many other Swiss have done to me, which is to cut off the salesperson from whom they are helping and proceed to tell them exactly what you need (go into detail and take your time) without a second glance towards the person you have just cut off from the salespersons. I have noticed the salespeople often seem happy to oblige their rudeness, whereas I am left standing dumbfounded and most likely leaving the store.
This exact situation happened to me 3 times alone last Friday afternoon while shopping on Bahnhofstrasse, and last night at a restaurant. *sigh*
And people complains that the cost of life is expensive here.... Some should take a look at their budget on how much money to put on ''luxuries".
Coffee I can understand but a ginger shop!! that is only open twice a week!

I also have this thing called an outpresso. It's a hand held device that opens the capsule and spits out the coffee, allowing you to toss out the capsule with the rest of the aluminum recycling.
In the US I had a saeco vienna deluxe semi automatic. It was great, but had too many o-rings that went bad, made a horrible mess and the truth is, the coffee from nespresso is consistently better. IMHO, again.I suppose I just wasn't good at fiddling with the semi automatic whenever I bought a different coffee. And I bought good coffee. We also bought both of our nespresso machines for less than the cost of the saeco.
Besides, if they can afford George Clooney for their advertising as well as their chain of little 'coffee-boutiques', they must be making some pretty serious money from those overpriced lumps of coffee-filled aluminium...
*BUT* there are so many other factors to weigh in on that I stuck with the beans at home... (Cheesy alert) because I like to grind it harrddddd in the kitchen.
The office has a fancy machine that uses the Nespresso capsules, it is very good.

I have a friend who absolutely adores his coffee and is currently enamored with the Nespresso machine after his introduction during his latest visit to our place. He's eager to try the nextpod capsule with freshly ground boutique coffees back home in Australia. And if they pass his taste test I'll be having him airfreight me some
I'm a coffee addict. At one point I was consuming 3 double espresso's before 9am... Its only through persistence (and a week long headache ) that I've managed to drop my caffeine consumption to 1 or 2 coffees per week. For this reason the Nespresso machine is fantastic. Minimal cleaning means that I cant tell myself that another coffee (or 3) is necessary before I pull the machine appart to clean it (every day)
And then still: you saved money but that filter coffee just sucks!
I got myself a jura, and buy beans. It's bigger then the nespresso, uses more cleaning etc and is more expensive (the machine, not the beans), but the coffee is superb.
