What is it with the Swiss? that even if they are nearest to the door on the train they will go to the door the other way in an empty carriage?

As a professional Pendler the least busiest seats are at one side of the train, whereas the best exits (closest to the stairs on the platform) are often on the other side; hence the odd transfer inside the compartment.
Reasons why I might choose a train door (that might not look logical to others in the train car): Closer to my destination at the train stop. No else waiting to get off at the door and I can leave more quickly.
I'm not Swiss but anyway walk inside the train because sometimes I have a 3 min connection and the other door gets me closer to the next train. Getting closer to the stairs is the difference between a swift connection or stay there waiting like an idiot for half an hour.
