To fondue or fondon't

Obviously not the OP...

Indeed............only peasants use their eating fork in the fondue.

Good sport is playing fair !

Lets look at your reply for example

''No bitter nor twisted, just playing with you a bit. It is for good sport only''.

That's fine, although if you are going to play with someone it would be polite to tell them beforehand, else they might get the wrong impression of you.

''Sadly you are not much of good competition''

Now I know this is a game I'm sure I can compete with you ! (by the way it's ''I'm not'' not ''no'')

''Well! You may one day understand to not take everything seriously here. ''

I was, like many people under the impression that this was an open forum where people exchanged views and experiences about Switzerland, not a place to snipe at peoples comments, i had a very interesting conversation last night from an Estonian guy who gave such a damning review of EF quite frankly I was quite embarrassed to be English, he said that he asked a simple question about Switzerland and was torn to pieces, something he never expected. He won't be back, less a pair of eyeballs for the advertisers...

I understand that some people get lonely and bored and have very little else in their life's and somehow feel superior to others because they start a lot of threads and answer a lot of questions etc etc, this is a very common phenomenon in all types of online forums.

What I find intriguing with EF is how quickly a core group of members gang up on someone which creates a malicious spirit that entices others to join in. This is not too common!

I research internet trends for a living and I must admit that EF stands out there on it's own when it comes to cyber bullying, it has become so entrenched into the forums fabric I doubt it will change, in fact it doesn't need to change, if it did where else could I get light relief poking the hornets nest?

You asked for it

If you want a hornets nest get yourself over to mumsnet.net and start a discussion on breast-feeding, vaccinations or home-schooling. Then you will know the true definition of an online punch up. EF is a kids' soft play area by comparison...

Did you check that out as part of your research?

You must be bad at your job.........

I frequent approx 20 forums...........12 of which have a high amount of active users, all of which have 'cyber bullying' as you put it........most alot worse than EF. Here everything is so tame compared to out their in the scarey interweb.

Its funny that cyber bullying never (in my 15 years of using forums) has never hapened to me..........

p.s. This has nothing to do with fondue or how hot Nil is.........so please start a new thread.

Reading this again, I see only one person being aggressive here. I could have been upset with your insult you served me in Spanish (why anyway?) but no. I gave you an honest opinion.

A Swiss family or couple invite you for dinner, it is good manner to accept. If you can't, well you can't. But excuses about saliva and germs...

You asked for opinions and I gave you mine. I wasn't bitter nor mean nor sarcastic. Sarcasm came when you compared me to your nanny. and you should know it is bad manner to correct someone's english in the way you did.

For the rest, the others can see.

I am done arguing with you on something non existing.

Well.... you will be assimilated... either by Swiss or by English... even I am starting to get an accent.

Bloody sods. All of 'em, I say.

No I never, the internet is made up of billions of websites, unfortunately I will not live long enough to research them all, but now you have made me aware of it i will check it out.

EF is not a kid's soft play area, EF is a sad embarrassment , but it it what it is !

I couldn't possibly comment ...

There is a high noise to signal ratio but that's true of most internet forums. The truth is that there is a lot of useful information about all aspects of Swiss life with a mountain of flaky anecdotes / handbag fights thrown in.

I've learned loads about Switzerland that I perhaps wouldn't have had I not been browsing round this forum for the last years.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the forum is an embarrassment, there's no real difference to this and most of the other forums I visit and I don't even research the internet.

If you want a higher hit rate of pure information, try Wikipedia.

In 30+ years of eating cheese fondue, I've NEVER seen that done!

Tom

That's how I do it, though not my kids.

Tom

P.S. Now I'm DEFINITELY in the mood to make cheese fondue for dinner tomorrow! (really, it's a family favorite, as is raclette)

Can someone start a chocolate fondue thread first?

I am not a huge fan of chocolate........

I would just prefer Nil to be covered in Kaşar.

cheers

Honey, you do know it is not me on my avatar, right?

See. You are bitter and twisted, thanks for ruining my day.

Thanks for crushing my dreams

**decides not to post a joke about what can be done with his Sucuk......

Slightly OT..but try the raclette with some sriracha hot sauce instead of paprika...tastes awesome!
